Great news for travellers seeking a tropical paradise! Russia's national carrier, Aeroflot, has successfully resumed direct flights between Moscow and Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles archipelago. This move, implemented in October 2023, signifies a significant boost for the Seychelles' tourism industry, with Russia currently ranking among the top five sources of tourists for the island nation.

Aeroflot's return to Seychelles skies comes after a brief hiatus in May 2023.

The airline previously played a crucial role in the archipelago's post-pandemic economic recovery. Since its initial return to scheduled flights in September 2021, Aeroflot significantly contributed to a surge in Russian tourist arrivals. In fact, the number of Russian visitors to the Seychelles skyrocketed from under 15,000 in 2019 to over 38,000 in 2023, according to a statement by the Seychelles Ministry of Transport.

This resumption of flights is expected to further strengthen the connection between the two countries and unlock even greater tourism potential. Travelers from Russia can now enjoy convenient three-times-a-week service between Moscow and Mahé, opening the door to exploring the Seychelles' breathtaking beaches, clear waters, and lush landscapes.

The Seychelles tourism industry is understandably thrilled with Aeroflot's return.

The Seychelles Ministry of Transport acknowledges the airline's significant contribution to the island nation's economic recovery and expresses optimism for the future. With increased connectivity, both countries anticipate a continued rise in tourist arrivals, fostering cultural exchange and economic prosperity.

So, if you are dreaming of a luxurious island getaway, consider setting your sights on the Seychelles. With Aeroflot's convenient flights and the Seychelles' captivating beauty, your tropical paradise awaits.
